findbyo for AI Assistants (MCP)

Ask Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP-capable assistant whether a restaurant is BYO — corkage fees, part-time BYO schedules, and 1,312 BYO venues across 25 cities, answered from findbyo's live community database.

Connect

findbyo runs a free, no-login remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server:

• Claude — Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → paste the URL above.
• ChatGPT — Settings → Connectors → Advanced → enable Developer mode → add the URL above.
• Claude Code — claude mcp add --transport http findbyo https://api.findbyo.com/mcp
• Anything else — standard streamable-HTTP MCP, stateless, no authentication.

What it can answer

• check_byo — “Is France-Soir in Melbourne BYO?” → BYO status, corkage fee, which drinks are allowed, and part-time schedules (“BYO Monday–Wednesday, and today is a BYO day at the venue”).
• find_byo_restaurants — “Find BYO Thai near Surry Hills with corkage under $5” → nearest-first venues with distances, filterable by cuisine, corkage, and drink type.
• list_cities — where findbyo has coverage, with venue counts.
• search / fetch — generic lookup tools for assistants that require them.

Honest by design

Coverage is community-built, so the server tells assistants the difference between “listed as not BYO” (real data — the venue doesn't allow it) and “not in our database” (no data — the venue may still be BYO). Every answer carries the venue's verification tier and a reminder that corkage policies change, so call ahead for special occasions.

Data & privacy

The server reads public listing data only. It receives the assistant's query — never who asked — and stores nothing about it beyond short-lived rate-limit logs. Details in our privacy policy.
